【講演要旨】Due to several factors such as change in terrestrial systems, socio-economic impacts and climate change, flooding events occurred with high intensity and an increase of frequency. The flood risk is observed in all areas of the world and its consequences can conduct to catastrophic damages. The rapid urbanization and severe weather conditions increased the vulnerability of many South-East Asian Megacities such as Hanoi or Manila. In this context, the Water and Urban Initiative (WUI) project is implemented in UNU-IAS and its main objective is to contribute to sustainable development in some developing countries in Asia. Therefore, the aims of this research are the identification of affected areas caused by flood and the assessment of urban flood damage in Hanoi. The spatial analysis approach adopted in this study required the integration of several factors related to flood characteristics, land use and socio-economic data. This work can be useful for decision-makers and planners to establish sustainable strategies on disaster risk reduction.
